AdBlue In Diesel

In Oxfordshire we have identified progressively more instances of AdBlue contamination wherein somebody has poured AdBlue straight into their diesel tank. This is to a degree as a result of drivers not knowing the right way to use it (note: it's not a fuel additive), and in part because the filler caps for diesel and AdBlue are generally directly next to each other on the automobile.

Now, exactly what is the situation with having AdBlue in the diesel tank?

Since the product is predominantly deionised water, it is almost the same as putting water in your tank. Diesel and water really don't mix whatsoever and attempting to run a diesel car on water will not work. In addition, the urea is quite corrosive to your fuel system pipes and seals and is at risk of crystalising, obstructing injectors and filters. If you put AdBlue into your fuel tank empty it immediately. And obviously never start up the car - not even to maneuver it off the pump. In the instance that you have started the car you would most likely have to have the full fuel system flushed and filters changed out.

Give us a call if it turns out you are a casualty of AdBlue contamination. We will help. We are Specialists in dealing with contaminated fuel and are able to attend to all kinds of AdBlue liquid contamination.

It truly was what is called an unsociable time to be on the road. It was close to 3 in the morning and nobody was stirring. It had become quite quiet thus far, and me and Ryan were sitting around reading a few old articles. This was an unusual peaceful time in Oxfordshire. It was indeed so calm that when the phone ultimately rang I leaped! The voice stated: "I've completed my overnight shift and incredibly poured the wrong fuel in a diesel metallic red Fiat Scudo". I told him to inform us exactly where he was and we left, ending up in Witheridge Hill no more than 30 minutes later. The wrong fuel was cleaned up and removed from the engine and he said many thanks for coming so promptly. While we were returning home we noticed two young women at the edge of the highway who seemed like they suffered a flat tyre. So we pulled up to change it, much to their delight.
